1.Understand the characteristics of physical and mental development in early childhood:
Understand the developmental characteristics of individuals from conception to early childhood, factors affecting development and human development theories, as well as the basis for development-appropriate education and care strategies.
2.Ability to evaluate and coach young children:
Understand the theory and spirit of observing and evaluating infants and young children, and develop appropriate observation and evaluation strategies. Understand the theories and principles of appropriate care and counseling for infants and young children, and develop appropriate care and counseling strategies.
3.Establish a theoretically based early childhood education philosophy:
Understand the connotations of the main theories and philosophies related to early childhood education, and establish early childhood education concepts and beliefs that are consistent with the aforementioned theoretical foundations.

This department provides students with diversified learning activities. In addition to general classroom teaching, it also includes visits, observations, internships, participation in studies, lectures, and service learning activities to build students' professional knowledge. In order to integrate teaching in various fields of early childhood education and promote early childhood drama teaching, the department regularly holds early childhood drama performances in the Taozhumiao area every year. The performances over the years have been well received by children, parents and the society, and students have also gained valuable experience in the activities. In addition, the department also encourages students to participate in short-term overseas study activities to enhance students’ learning horizons and cross-cultural life experience.
